Nadaswaram

Nadaswaram is considered to be one of the most earliest  and exceptional musical instruments of Tamilnadu. it would be suitable to call this instrument a rare blend of music and holiness. It is considerably larger than the north indian  musical instruments Shehnai and has a simple double reed rather that the more complex quardruple reed. It is believed a very auspicious musical instrument and is found at temples Festivals and at marriage functions. it is typically complimented by a surthi petti otru and thavils. there is a smaller type of the Nadaswaram which is used in folk music and is known Mukhavina.
